1. Keep Up to Date With Summer Forklift Maintenance
While you should already have a good general all-year-round maintenance programme in place, with warmer temperatures on the way, it’s worth making some extra checks on your fleet over the summer season. Rising heat levels can cause an increase in the likelihood of battery corrosion and low fluid levels. Make sure to keep note of the water levels of your battery cells during your checks this summer. If fluid loss is consistent, you might want to consider replacing the battery for peace of mind.
Other key considerations are the oil and tyres of your trucks. In summer, oil is at risk of overheating through the pipework of your forklift, which can make your forklift unreliable and unresponsive. As for the tyres, excess heat can cause the rubber to become brittle, which in time can lead to fraying, splitting, and general tyre degradation.
